Just because they’re called ‘Of Montreal’ doesn’t mean they’re actually ‘from Montreal’

It’s the most confusing trend in indie rock: naming your band after a place you’re not actually from. To name just a few, you've got Of Montreal (not Canadian), I’m From Barcelona (not Spanish), the Bronx (not New Yorkers) and Brighton, MA (not from Massachusetts). What gives?
