Looking back with Kristen Bell, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis and Odette Yustman
By Geoff Berkshire, Metromix
Is there someone from your high school days you hope to never see again? For Kristen Bell’s character Marni in the new comedy “You Again,” that person is vicious mean girl Joanna (Odette Yustman of “Cloverfield”). But Joanna reappears in Marni’s life in the worst possible way: she’s engaged to Marni’s brother (James Wolk of the new Fox series “Lonestar”).
Making the situation even more complicated: Marni’s mother (Jamie Lee Curtis) has her own horrific high school memories of Joanna’s aunt (Sigourney Weaver). “You Again” hopes to find comic gold in two generations of women with a whole lot of baggage.
Metromix sat in on a Los Angeles press day to discover what the film’s stars remember about their own high school experiences and what drew them to reliving it all for laughs on screen.
